- Mark Twain (Writer, America)

I wud like to add more.. So today will start with

Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi (CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF PEPSICO)

Nooyi also took the lead in the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998,and merger with Quaker Oats Company, which also brought Gatorade to PepsiCo. In 2007 she became the fifth CEO in PepsiCo's 44-year history.

« on: June 07, 2010, 08:52:41 PM »
Hanii London Punjabiji.. We all come across these situations in our life and sometimes more than two or three at a time..Even Positive changes in life causes stress..

But the problem is People usually get along with this stress at initial stage and dont take any step for its management.and its prognosis is alwayz bad..Even We can see in our families too..Mental health is never given priority..I can see US environment is  different here people r litlle more aware but i wont say fully aware abt it..
Though in India, closely knitted family system help to manage any kind of stress but it not that much helpful now..becoz of more trend of nuclear family system.. Therefore, there r  lots of cases when undiagnosed stress condition get progressed to Depression...

People need to aware about this aspect of life too..Stress scoring help u know that whatt kind of stress management techniques u need..Not only for us but with this information we can help people around us too..

Thanks for responses frdz..
Yes, Grenade Singh u r right this is not first time...this is happening 3rd time consecutevly..
Indian-Americans comprise less than 1 percent of the U.S. population according to 2000 census data, but they have an impressive bee winning streak — taking the trophy in eight of the past 12 years.

Rest..London Punjabiji..I am very bad in spellings and Pronunciation even now..more in spellings..

More additions to Punjabi Folk Dances..

1.Area no 1 Belongs to Bhangra..

2.In Area 1+2 Both Bhangra and Luddi were popular

3.Area no 2 is sub- montane region of Punjab where "Patti" type of Ludi dance is Popular.

4.Jhumar was more popular in 3a, 3b and 3c areas of Punjab.

From Historical Point of view one thing need to notice is that Jhumar was used have more area Popularity than rest of Folk dances even more than Bhangra..
So in this different areas Jhumar was popular with different names..
a) As 3A areas lies b/w River RAVI & CHENAB so it was named as "RAVI DA JHUMAR".
b)As 3B lies b/w River SATLUJ & RAVI In this area Special Form oh Jhumar was popular known as "NEELI DA JHUMAR".
c) 3c area comes b/w RAVI, CHENAB & JEHLAM so this was area of BLAUCHs and Jhumar was popular as "Lambian Da Jhumar".

5, In Area NO- 4 Malwai Gidha Was popluar.

GIDHA IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS MAP AS ITS POPULAR IN BOTH EAST AND WEST PUNJAB. THIS DANCE WAS POPULAR FROM RIVER "GHAGGAR" TO "RIVER INDUS" i.e IN THE ENTIRE SAPT SINDHU.

News Khabran / Indian American Win US Spelling Bee Contest
« on: June 06, 2010, 02:24:05 AM »
Another Proud Moment For India.

Anamika Veeramani, 14, won the celebrated competition Friday by correctly spelling the word "stromuhr."  The Indian-American girl from the central state of Ohio will receive more than $40,000 in cash and prizes.

Stromuhr is listed in few standard English dictionaries, and Veeramani was not required to know its definition in order to win.  A stromuhr is a medical instrument used to measure the flow of blood.

Anamika kept a serious expression all the way through the competition, until she finally cracked a smile when she received her trophy.  She is the third Indian-American in a row to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Anamika advanced to the final round after correctly spelling a word, "juvia," which eliminated her last three rivals.  A juvia is a Brazil nut.

With the spelling bee receiving prime-time coverage on American television, the competition has taken on some new entertaining features.  Words have been presented in humorous sentences, like, "The phillumenist had a hard time obtaining fire insurance on his storage unit."

A phillumenist is a person who collects matchbooks
Thanks
