..................ਸਰੀ (ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਹੋਤਾ)-...............  ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਮੁੰਡੇ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਆ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦਾ ਕਲੰਕ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਹਿਲ ਤਾਂ ਕਦੇ-ਕਦੇ ਹੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਖਬਰ ਸੁਣਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ḔḔਮਾਡਰਨ ਮੁੰਡੇ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ'' ਵਲੋਂ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਂ ਘਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਇੰਨੀਆਂ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਦਿਨ ਸੁੱਕਾ ਲੰਘੇ। ਭੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦਹਿਲ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਮੁੰਡੇ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸੋਚਾਂ 'ਚ ਪੈ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਸੰਦੀਦਾ ਹਾਣੀ ਵਿਆਹੁਣ ਦੇ ਇਛੁੱਕ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਆਮ ਭੱਜਣ-ਭਜਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਖਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪੁੱਜੀ ਨਵਵਿਆਹੁਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਦੁਖੀ ਸਰੀ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਪਟੋਲੋ ਬਰਿੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਫਰੇਜ਼ਰ ਦਰਿਆ 'ਚ ਛਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੀਨ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕੁਝ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਕਤਲ ਹੋਈ ਸਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੁਟਿਆਰ ਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਭੰਗੂ ਦੇ ਹੌਲਨਾਕ ਕਤਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸੁੱਕੀ ਕਿ ਨਵਵਿਆਹੁਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਰਕਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੰਗ ਆ ਕੇ ਖੁਦਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਰੀ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰੋਆ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਸਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਝੰਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। 23 ਸਾਲਾ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸ਼ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰੋਆ, ਮਾਤਾ ਰੇਸ਼ਮ ਕੌਰ ਸਰੋਆ, ਭੈਣ ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਇਸ ਹੌਲਨਾਕ ਵਾਕਿਆਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਗੱਚ ਭਰ ਆਇਆ। ਚਾਵਾਂ-ਮਲਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਬਹੂ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਆਸਾਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੱਠ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨ ਪੁੱਤ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਖੌਅ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਬੂਰੇ ਜੱਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਧੀ ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਈ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੇ ਲਗਭਗ 5 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਪੌਂਸਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਮੰਗਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਥੇ ਆਏ ਸਨ। ਵੱਡਾ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਕੁਝ ਅਰਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੈਟਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਜਦਕਿ ਛੋਟਾ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰੋਆ ਉਰਫ ਦੀਪਾ (ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ) ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈਣ ਦੀ ਬੇਸਮੈਂਟ 'ਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਭੰਗੜਾ ਟੀਮ ਦਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ, ਸੋਹਣਾ-ਸੁਨੱਖਾ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਕਿੱਤੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਇਵਰ ਸੀ। ਲਗਭਗ ਸਾਢੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਚੋਲਗੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਦੀ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਡਘਾਣਾਂ ਕਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਪੁੱਤਰੀ 16 ਸਾਲਾ ਹਰਮਨ ਕੌਰ ਧਾਮੀ ਉਰਫ਼ ਮਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ। ਲੜਕੀ ਦਾ ਚਾਚਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਹੈ। ਲਗਭਗ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਮੰਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 11 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2011 ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ 19 ਸਾਲਾ ਹਰਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਾਨੋਂ-ਸ਼ੌਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਆਉਣ ਤੱਕ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਮਨ ਦੇ ਸਬੰਧ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਰਹੇ। ਸਾਢੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਰਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੋਹਫੇ ਵੀ ਅਕਸਰ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਾਪਸ ਆ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਪਾਂਸਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। 11 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2011 ਨੂੰ ਹਰਮਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ 'ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ। ਲੜਕਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਫਲਾਈਟ 7æ10 ਵਜੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲਗਭਗ ਸਾਢੇ ਚਾਰ ਘੰਟੇ ਬਾਅਦ 11æ45 ਵਜੇ ਇੱਕ ਲਾਲ ਕਮੀਜ਼ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਈ। ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਟੈਚੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਬੱਘੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਬਦਲੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਵੀ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਸਹੁਰਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਲੜਕੇ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੱਦਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ 'ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਡੀਕ-ਉਡੀਕ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਏ ਨਹੀਂ? ਪਰ ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਭੀਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਲਿਆ, ਸਗੋਂ ਹਾਸਾ-ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਿਆ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਉਹ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਏ, ਚਾਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਤਾ ਪਰ ਹਰਮਨ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ 'ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਘੰਟਾ ਕੁ ਬਹਿਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਨਵੀਂ ਆਈ ਨੂੰਹ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਥੱਕੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੇੜੇ ਜਾਂ ਛੂਹੇ ਨਾ। ਭੈਣ ਨੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ 12 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹ-ਦੁੱਧ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ ਕਿ ਦੀਦੀ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਟੱਚ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ 911 ਘੁੰਮਾ ਦਿਊਂਗੀ। ਇੱਕ-ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਬਹੂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ 911 ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਭੈਣ ਦੰਗ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਤੋਂ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਨੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਰੇਡੀਓ 'ਤੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟੀਕਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਟੱਚ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਕਹੀ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਹਵਾਰੀ ਆਈ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 13 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਤੀਸਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਲੜਕੇ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਰਮਨ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਲਈ ਇਥੇ ਆਈ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਇੰਸ਼ੋਰੈਂਸ ਕਾਰਡ ਅਤੇ ਪੀæ ਆਰæ ਕਾਰਡ ਜਲਦੀ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਵਾਓ। ਲੜਕੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਫੋਨ 'ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖਾਤਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ? ਜਦਕਿ ਚਾਚੇ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰਮਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਇੰਸ਼ੋਰੈਂਸ ਅਤੇ ਪੀæ ਆਰæ ਕਾਰਡ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖੀ। ਲੜਕਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਨੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਾਏ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਟੱਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੱਸ ਨਾ ਹੋਈ। ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਰਾਤ ਜਦ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਾਤ 10æ30 ਵਜੇ 911 ਕਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਲੜਕੇ ਨੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਫੋਨ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਗੱਲ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਫੋਨ ਮਿਲਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਨਾਲ 911 ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ। ਰਾਤ 1 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਆਈ ਪਰ ਛਾਣਬੀਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲੇ ਗਈ। 14 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਨੂੰਹ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਾਣਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ 911 ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ। ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਖੇ 'ਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ, ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਆਏ ਫਰੈਂਡ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਲੜਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੇ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਵੀਂ ਆਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਘੁੰਮਾਉਣ ਫਿਰਾਉਣ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਵੇ, ਜਿਸ 'ਤੇ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਘੁੰਮਣ ਫਿਰਨ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਪਿੰਗ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਘਰਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨੂੰਹ ਦਾ ਜੀਅ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੜਕਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਢੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਹਰਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਜੋੜੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹਾਲਤ 'ਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਹਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਪਰ ਹਰਮਨ ਦਾ ਪੱਥਰ ਦਿਲ ਮੋਮ ਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਹਰ ਵਕਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। ਘਰ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਇਥੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਸੁਲਾਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੜਕਾ-ਲੜਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਸਮੈਂਟ 'ਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਹਾਲਤ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਛੁਡਾ ਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਭੇਜਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਹ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਬਚ ਜਾਵੇ। 17 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮਨਹੂਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪਤਨੀ ਘਰੋਂ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਲਈ ਟਿਕਟ ਲੈਣ ਨਿਕਲੇ। ਪਰ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਫੋਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਰਮਨ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਥੋਂ ਵੀ ਖਾਲੀ ਮੁੜਨਾ ਪੈਣਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਭੇਜ ਦੇਵੇ। ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਿਰ ਤਕਰਾਰ ਹੋਈ। ਫਿਰ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਕਾਟ ਰੋਡ ਅਤੇ 104 ਐਵੇਨਿਊ ਦੇ ਲਾਗਿਉਂ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੇ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਫੋਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਟਾਂ ਲਊਂਗਾ। ਫਿਰ ਕੁਝ ਮਿੰਟਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਰਮਨ ਲਾਈਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਿਆ 'ਚ ਛਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਫੋਨ 'ਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਸਕੇ। ਅਭਾਗੀ ਭੈਣ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਮਗਰ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਾ ਬੁਝਾ ਕੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਆਵੇ, ਸਕਾਟ ਰੋਡ ਅਤੇ 93 ਐਵੇਨਿਊ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਸੀ। ਜਿਉਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪਟੋਲੋ ਬਰਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਬਰਿੱਜ ਬੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤ ਚੇਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਭਾਣਾ ਵਰਤ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਖਬਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੱਕ ਲੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਦਕਿ ਲੜਕੀ ਟੋਰੰਟੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਨੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਰੇਡੀਓ 'ਤੇ ਲੜਕੇ 'ਤੇ ਨਸ਼ਈ, ਅੱਯਾਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਕੁੱਟਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਲੜਕੇ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਲੜਕਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਢੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਲੜਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ? ਇਸ ਹਿਰਦੇਵੇਧਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੇ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਦੀ ਡੰਗੋਰੀ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਲਕਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਦਮਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਫੀ ਵਕਤ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ। ਵਧਦੀ ਹੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਇਸ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਜੇ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਰਥਕ ਕਦਮ ਨਾ ਉਠਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਦ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਮੁੰਡੇ-ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਣਗੇ। ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ, ਇੰਮੀਗਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੇਣ ਤਾਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਖਾਤਰ ਹਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਦਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ 'ਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ 'ਚੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਡਿਪੋਰਟ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

i just got up from ma bed just to shared this tragic news with my all pj friends...its really sad news for me and for his all fans :sad: Renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, 70, passed away at 8 am in Lilavati Hospital on Monday morning.
Jagjit Singh was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on September 23 after he suffered brain haemorrhage in suburban Bandra where a life-saving surgery was performed on him.
He is survived by his wife Chitra Singh.
Jagjit Singh was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He had four sisters and two brothers and he is known as Jeet by his family.
Popularly known as "The Ghazal King" he gained acclaim together with his wife, another renowned Indian ghazal singer Chitra Singh, in the 1970s and 1980s, as the first ever successful duo act (husband-wife) in the history of recorded Indian music.
Recipient of Padma Bhushan award, he has sung in several languages including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Nepali.
His popular ghazals include, Meri zindagi kisi aur ki, mere naam ka koi aur hai, Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain, Wo jo hum mein tumme qaraar tha, Patta-patta boota-boota haal hamaara jaane hai, Hoshwalo ko khabar, etc.
Jagjjit Singh has also sung for popular movies like Sarfarosh and Tarqeeb.
