Hereafter, no one is questioned about social status; excellent and sublime is the practice of the Word of the Shabad. Other study is false, and other actions are false; such people are in love with poison.

vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

(Taken from http www.manvirsingh.blogspot.com)

Guru Nanak Sahib jee was sitting in the gathering of the Sangat along with his sons, when he lifted one takka (a 2 paise coin) and held it in his hand. Guru jee asked Baba Siri Chand, his elder son, "What do you see lying in my hand?" Baba Siri Chand replied, "I see only a takka, which you had just lifted in front of the entire Sangat. What else could it be?" Guru jee then turned to his younger son, Baba Lakhmi Daas, to ask him the same question, which he got the same reply.

Guru Nanak Sahib jee asked the Sangat members what they saw, which they humbly replied, “O Guru Gareeb Niwaaj (O Guru, Sanctury of the Helpless) due to our limited vision we can only say that there is one takka in your palm." When Guru jee asked Bhai Lehna jee, "O Dear Sikh! What do you see lying in my hand?” Bhai Lehna jee with utmost humility, tears rolling down his eyes and with folded hands said, “O Sachey Paatshaah (O True King!), with my little vision, I see all the wealth and happiness of this world (lok) and the next world (parlok) in your hands. I am unable to see beyond that”.

May Waheguru do kirpaa on us all that when we look at Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee, we don't just see ink, paper and the colourful decorated rumaalay (draperies). Instead, may we be blessed with the vision of seeing living, speaking and ever-present Jyot (Divine Light) of Guru Nanak Sahib jee manifest in full glory in the Partak Guru, Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee.

RAAG DHANAASAREE, THE WORD OF DEVOTEE KABEER JEE: ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU: That humble being, who knows even a little about loving devotional worship — what surprises are there for him? Like water, dripping into water, which cannot be separated out again, so is the weaver Kabeer, with softened heart, merged into the Lord. || 1 || O people of the Lord, I am just a simple-minded fool. If Kabeer were to leave his body at Benares, and so liberate himself, what obligation would he have to the Lord? || 1 || Pause || Says Kabeer, listen, O people — do not be deluded by doubt. 14.33 -Guru Nanak Dev Jee's Eyes

Guru Nanak Dev jee describes when he was called into the Master's prescence and given the mission to spread the Lord's glory:

PAUREE: I was a minstrel, out of work, when the Lord took me into His service. To sing His Praises day and night, He gave me His Order, right from the start. My Lord and Master has summoned me, His minstrel, to the True Mansion of His Presence. He has dressed me in the robes of His True Praise and Glory. The Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name has become my food. Those who follow the Guru's Teachings, who eat this food and are satisfied, find peace. His minstrel spreads His Glory, singing and vibrating the Word of His Shabad. O Nanak, praising the True Lord, I have obtained His Perfection. || 27 || panna 150 of Guroo Granth Sahib Jee.

This divine union with the Master occurred when the young Nanak Dev Jee went as usual for his very early morning dip ( 1 or 2 am?) in the River.

Nanak's dead!
Nanak's dead!
He jumped into the river
and sunk like lead
Down! Down!
Must have drowned!
His clothes were found
but he wasn't around.

Don't cry
Mata Tripta Jee
Listen to
Bibee Nanakee

"No need to cry mum,
Nanak's different
more than your son
he's heaven sent.
More than a man
he knows God's ways
you'll understand
in just 3 days"

Nanak's a Ghost!
Nanak's a Demon!
He came out of the river
glowing like the sun.

Saying "Ik Oankar!"
One Supreme Soul
from where we sprung,
returning is our goal

"Sat-naam",
The Name is True
meditate on Waheguru
and become eternal too.

"KartaPurakh"
The Creative Being
marvel at the wonder
of everything you're seeing.

"Nirbhau"
The Fearless One
Why should we worry
Our Master's scared of none.

"NirVair"
The One Without Hate
Loving each creature
Our Master is great.

"Akal Moorat"
One Deathless Form
Meditate on this Being
not a picture or a stone.

"Ajunee"
Never born to die,
Our soul re-incarnates
learn to escape and fly.

"Saiban(g)"
The Self-Existant One
Self-created light
brighter than the sun.

"Gur Prasad"
The Guru's Kindness
leads us to light
from our blindness.

Nanak's Alive!
Nanak SatGuru!
He looked at me
and said "God's in you".
To realise this
there's one thing to do:

"Jap"
Repeat the Name
of Wonder Guroo
Guroo of Guroos
Vaahi-Guroo!

I looked at his eyes
his face was too bright
falling at his feet
into the lovelight

I saw the world
through His eyes
love, love, love
that never dies
wave after wave
flooding seas and skies
Was a Muslim born?
is it a Hindu that dies?
God is True
religious labels are lies.

Nanak's Alive!
Nanak SatGuru!
He looked at me
and said "God is True".

"Ad Sach"
True in the Beginning
"Jugad Sach"
True when the Ages began
"Ha bhee Sach"
True now
"Nanak Hosee Bhee Sach"
True forever and ever
Nanak says to me
"Beloved one
God is True
forever and ever
God is True."

Guru of Guroos
Wonder Guroo
Vaahi-guroo
VAAHI-GUROO!

-----------------------------

Mool Mantr and Gur Mantr
meditate, meditate, meditate
upon them day and night,
with all your might
and you too will unite
with your Maker
the One Supreme Creator.

Religion, Faith, Spirituality / The Guru, The Emperor And The Grass-Cutter
« on: September 07, 2010, 08:29:12 AM »
Guru Hargobind knew that now was time to prepare an army of saint-soldiers. He understood that it was necessary for the defense of the Sikhs and of the Dharma. He would never attack anyone, but if someone made war, his Sikhs must be able to defend themselves and to defend others. Guru Hargobind is a beautiful saint and the Sikhs love him very much, we say, "Guru ji, may we be at your feet, you are the True emperor, you are the True King."

The Emperor of India at that time was Jahangir. Emperor Jahangir heard some slander from an enemy of the Guru, "Guru Arjun was killed by your orders, your majesty. His son, Hargobind, is now the Guru. He's making preparations for war! He keeps a strong army, he wants to take revenge for his fathers death. He wants to be king himself, he already calls himself the 'True King'. He lives like a king and he cares for no one." But the emperor had also heard good things about the Guru from his advisers, "I pray your Majesty, do not listen to anyone who speaks bad about the Guru, The Guru has no desire for empire. He always meditates on the Name of God, he is wealthy and famous because of God's gift."

So the emperor asked to see the Guru. When he met the Guru, emperor Jahangir was impressed. Even more than that, one day when a tiger attacked the emperor while he was out walking with the Guru! Everyone was really afraid, but Guru Hargobind jumped off his horse blocked the ferocious tiger with his shield and then ended the tigers life. Jahangir thought, "I am so grateful! No one could stop that tiger but the Guru saved my life." What do you think the emperor would have done if the Guru wasn't there to save his life?

Even though he admired Guru Hargobind, he still had some doubts. He still had fear in him. One time he asked Guru ji, "O Guru, I've been told that you are supposed to be a holy man but instead you do worldly things. You make your Sikhs call you the True Emperor, but I am the emperor. Your Sikhs call me a false king. Isn't this true?" Guru ji explained to him that he was following the example of Guru Nanak and how it was his duty to take care of the Sikhs both spiritually and physically, "I love my Sikhs, and they love me. I can not stop them from saying these things with such love. It is by saying these things that love expresses itself in words, it is only natural. I have never told anyone to call me a True Emperor, in Guru Nanak's house God is the only Emperor."

The emperor heard this but he was not satisfied. They went to their different tents. Later that day a poor young grass cutter from that area heard that the Guru was nearby! He immediately came to the Guru's camp, "Is the True Emperor here?! I heard he is near, please tell me where he is." They thought he was talking about Jahangir, "Oh yes, the emperor is sitting under the shade of that tree right over there." The grass cutter ran over there and put a penny in front of the emperor. He thought he was the Guru and he fell at his feet and prayed, "O True Emperor, all other kings are false. They rule for a short time, Your rule is forever and is beyond this world. Bless my soul, wash away my karmas, bring me in to your house of wisdom of light. It is you who can give true protection, it is YOU who saves!" Jahangir looked around and said, "This man wants me to bless his soul and save him from spiritual darkness, I do not have the power to do that. I can not even save my own life, how will I save his soul?"

In that moment he saw for himself that it is the Sikhs who called the Guru "True Emperor." Jahangir admitted to the grass-cutter, "I am not the True Emperor, I am false, your True King is over there." The Grass-cutter picked up his penny and ran to where the Guru sat, "O Guru...." He prayed at the feet of the Guru and Guru ji blessed him, "Always be sweet and humble in your words and actions. Love everyone and hate no one. Work honestly and share whatever you have. Always be good to others and always be fair to everyone. God is with you every moment of your life. Remember God in every moment. Obey the teachings of the Guru. You will be happy in this world and in the next world."

All kings, emperors and rulers are under God's power. Recite the Name of God and become satisfied. Be around the saints and find God within.

Religion, Faith, Spirituality / Bhai Pheru Jee - Good Masand
« on: September 07, 2010, 08:14:34 AM »
WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Bhai Pheru Jee - Good Masand - from tapoban.org

Masands who were appointed by the third Guru, Guru Amardas jee were very chardi kala wale Gursikh but by the time Guru Gobind Singh jee took the Guruship from Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the masands got corrupted very badly.

The masands who were appointed to preach Gursikhee, collect Daswand and provide social, political and religious leadership to the Sikhs who lived in far off lands, totally forgot their duties and started extorting money from people, and did some very bad things like adultry and rape etc. They made the people quiet by scaring them with curses and other means. In short they had become scoundrels from saints.

When Guru Gobind Singh jee heard all this he got very upset. As you all know that he was very strict on maryada. He ordered his Khalsa to make the masands appear in front of him. He further ordered his Singhs to bring them holding them by their beards. The Singhs heard this and heeded by dragging and abducting the masands and made them appear before Guru Sahib.

In those days the masand of Lahore was Bhai Pheru jee who apart from being the true masand was a Gursikh of high spritual stages. When the Singhs came to get him they could not dare to put their hands on the beard of such a great Gursikh. At this Bhai Pheru jee begged them to hold him by the beard but the Singhs could not do it. Then Bhai Sahib jee held his beard in his own hand and came in the darbar of king of kings Guru Gobind Singh jee.

When Guru Gobind Singh jee saw Bhai Pheru coming, he got bairaag. He got up from his Singhaasan (throne) and embraced Bhai Pheru jee and said that the order of holding the masands by beard was not for the Gursikhs like you. Such is the humility of Gursikhs. Bhai Pheru jee took amrit and got even more respect now after appearing in the Guru darbar.

Following are some points we learn from this saakhi:

1) Gursikhs keep humility and never ever show pride in the darbar of Guru. What is the being (aukaat) of a human. If Guru takes away the sight of mercy from an individual, a person becomes dust in two seconds.

2) People who jap the naam of Vaheguru and do Bhagti have so much noor/pratap/rohb/grace on their face that no one can even look at them. The Singhs who went to catch Bhai Pheru jee could not even talk rudely to him let alone grabbing him by the beard.
