MOHALI: In the issue where the turban of a Sikh youth was allegedly removed by Punjab police officials during an agitation, various Sikh bodies on Thursday held a protest demonstration in Mohali.
The incident had happened during a protest by rural pharmacists near PCA stadium. Although Punjab government has suspended the two officials including a SP and an inquiry has also been marked into the issue, the protesters demanded that no inquiry is required and legal action should be taken against the guilty. They said that this would be a warning that nobody should dare to disrespect the turban.
Various Sikh leaders including Hardeep Singh, member SGPC; Karnail Singh Pirmohamad, AISSF; R P Singh, Akhand Kirtani jatha; Sandeep Singh, Canadian; Various factions of SAD, Istri Akali Dal (L), gurdwara committees, youth bodies and social organizations were seen at gurdwara Amb Sahib before the protest march. Most of the speakers described the incident as most unfortunate.

News Khabran / Woman thought $7m Lotto win was April Fool's joke

 :D: :D:

A Wellington woman says she wondered if her $7 million Big Wednesday win was an April Fool's Day joke.
The woman bought a Big Wednesday ticket in Newtown after winning $27 from last Saturday's Lotto draw.
"I had in the back of my mind that it was still April Fool's when I checked my ticket, so when First Division winner flashed up on the monitor, I didn't really believe it and thought that was a really mean trick to play on me," said the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous.
"I can't believe I have now turned that $27 win into $7m."
The woman, who bought her ticket in Newtown, Wellington, won $5m cash and $2m in luxury prizes.
She also won $280,011 with a second division prize.
"This win has come at a fantastic time for me as I have been saving up for my first house, which I can now just go out and buy," she said.
The woman planned to buy a house, some Rugby World Cup tickets and take her family on a trip to Europe.
NZ Lotteries chief executive Todd McLeay said it was the seventh-largest Big Wednesday prize.
Meanwhile, Lotto Powerball has jackpotted to $28m. If it is not struck tomorrow night, it will jackpot next week to a "must win" $30m draw, which last occurred in October 2008.

News Khabran / India's population touched 1.21 billion .......
« on: April 01, 2011, 02:28:04 AM »
Breaking News

INDIA'S population has grown to 1.21 billion, second to only China, according to new census data. And despite a decade of slower population growth — it was 17.6 percent from 2001-2011, down from 21.5 percent in the 10 years before that — India still gained 181 million new people over that period, roughly the entire population of Pakistan. The government’s efforts to improve conditions for Indian women seemed to be borne out in some of the data, including an increase in female literacy that was higher than the country’s overall improvement, up about 9 percent to a nationwide literacy rate of 74 percent. But Indian officials expressed alarm about one statistic: the ratio of young girls to young boys (counting those 6 years or younger) fell over the past 10 years, from 927 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001 to 914 per 1,000 in 2011. That raised worries that despite laws to prohibit it, many families are still using abortion to ensure that they have sons.

The things you'd do for religion.

I understand that i shouldn't have laughed but if you'e going to start telling me what to do and calling me a kid, then i'm going to start bashing you as well, for that reason alone. And believe me, i'm not in the mood to fight.
