I was trying to lighten the topic. Nontheless, Wilkes was clearly severly mentally unstable, first to be so called "in love" with a 9 year old girl and second to commit suicide.

I can't help but think that Neil Wilkes, in the reserved British manner, was attempting to protest the generational apartheid that has afflicted many of the English-speaking countries.  This apartheid is cruel to children and adults alike, and is especially cruel to men with a nurturing instinct.  I am sad that he saw no hope in his future, but I can't say he was wrong.

And I presume it was intended as a quiet protest, for why else would he choose self-immolation?  There are a thousand easier ways to go.
