Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, war is indeed an ugly activity. Yet it is fascinating to see how human beings react and adapt in extreme circumstances.

That comes to the point I've talked about in a different thread. Your generalizing a whole religion based on a few people. Your basically saying ALL hindus, muslims, etc when you mention a religion. That's just being stereotypical. I'm not for any religion but how can you say every person from that religion is the same way? For example, Osama Bin Laden is muslim, AL-Queda is a muslim terrorist organization so does that mean every muslim is a terrorist? No and if you think they are thats just wrong. I think that every religion has its extremists and people who put other religions down. Yes at a certain point many people conducted heinous crimes using religion but that time was different. People were more ignorant back then, now people are smarter and understand different religions. With the help of the internet, television, and even growing diversity everywhere people are more knowledgeable. I myself personally have seen peace and unity between religions, living in a diverse neighborhood in NY. My neighbors are Muslim, the tenant who lives in the apartment below me are Sikh and there are a few Hindu families across the street. We all live happily. I have friends from every religion, we've all been to Mosques, Mandirs, Gurdwaras and Chruches. Not once have a seen any type of hatred towards us when it was obvious we weren't from that religion.

So finally, I believe there isn't any religion that promotes violence or hatred. The hatred is built by politics or by individuals who use past events to brainwash people. So my advice is to everyone is there is no point on fighting about religion, every religion promotes the same thing and stop using religion as an excuse for your dumb actions.

NYPuNJaBI Veer Ji, regarding your above post. I am going to assume that it is a response to my earlier post 61. I’ll apologise in advance if it isn’t.

However, before you go calling me dumb I will remind you that you haven’t actually answered any of my questions. I am not and haven’t said anything of the sort that you mention in your post at all. Where did I say that all Hindus or all Muslims are bad? Also where did I say that all Muslims are terrorists?

I am not generalising anything. I asked you if the basic ideology behind a religion is expansionist then surely it follows that a minority faith would suffer at the hands of a majority which has an ethos based on expansionism. Not only does history show us this but the present in various parts of the world also shows us this.

As to your neighbourhood; I am not here to criticise you or your neighbourhood. It is all very well talking about the comforts of New York and all but what of the millions of people around the globe who do not enjoy the luxuries you enjoy?, luxuries such as an education? Millions of people do not have such access to education. Just because you live “happily” it does not mean everybody is in the same happy club. Please note: I am not trying to be rude here.

I think you are not really recognising real facts. I suggest you consider the events in Bosnia Hertsegovina, Croatia, Romania, Darfur, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, the Catholic/Protestant problem in Northern Ireland but to name a few. All of those areas are still troubled by religious conflict as well as human rights abuses by the majority religions on the minority religions. We are not talking about the past, we are talking about today. Don’t forget Palestine and Israel, although it is slightly different but an element of religion is involved. What I will say to you is this, if religion teaches tolerance then why is there the death penalty for apostasy in Islam? Isn’t that violence? In some countries religious laws enforce public stoning of women, isn’t that violence? In some countries it is legal for an adult man to marry a 9 year old child, isn’t that violence? In some countries it is not possible to have a Church or a Gurdewara in the entire country. In some countries a Nishan Sahib can not be higher than a dome on top of a Mosque. The punishment for which could be 100 lashes. Isn’t that violence?

I would also suggest to you that Sikhs in India have a grievance, by ignoring them we do not do them justice. I also refute your "my religion is better" falsehood.

So very true! I believe there isn't any religion that promotes violence or hate. Religions aren't evil, people are evil. Religions don't kill people, people kill people.

The point is a person cannot be religious and be doing mass evil at the same time. There are evil people in all castes/races. To be religious is to be loving and to live in acceptance of God's will.

Both of you Veer Ji’s

Whilst I do not wish to be taking sides I would like to ask you both these questions; what if the oppressing faith is an expansionist faith. What if one refers to the other as an inferior faith and openly calls it infidel? What if it calls the followers of other religions “kafirs”? And what if one faith openly discriminates against the other purely because it can? What if one faith deliberately tries to pollute the teachings of another?

Doesn’t our “ardaas” remind us of all the kurbani given by our people throughout our history? Now I know Sikhi doesn’t teach us to hate but what if Sikhi itself is hated by followers of other faiths? What if one puts a price on a Sikhs head?

I would be very much interested in your answers.

I have never been negative or pessimistic, what is the point?

Ask your self the following questions:

1                    Where do I want to be?

2                    Why do I want be there?

3                    What are the various ways of getting there?

4                    Which is the best way for me right now?

The first question is simple enough, it is just the goal. However the next three are the most important in equal measure. Why? Well it’s simple really; the second question confirms and strengthens the reasons behind the wish to achieve stated goal.

The third question makes you consider the various methods for you achieving this goal, it will expose the deadlines needed and also it will allow you to build into your system whatever else is going on in your life. But be aware that the single minded will to succeed must NEVER be compromised.

The fourth question is simple because, once you have explored all the other ways of achieving your goal you now have the best way forward.

There is only one thing left; take the action required.

Pessimism takes root through inaction caused by fear and procrastination. They are evil. NEVER let them rule you.

This must be quite an embarrassment for Pakistan and in particular the ISI. Did the ISI know he was there? it probably did. How could it not? Especially as the building he was in is only a few hundred yards from the elite military academy from where Pakistan’s top soldiers graduate. :dnk:

It must also be very embarrassing for Pakistan that America did not share intelligence with Pakistan. What does that suggest? Surely it must be that the Americans simply do not trust the Pakistani Government or for that matter Pakistan’s intelligence agency.

In my view Pakistan has been caught with its pants down and it should come clean. :whew:

I myself became a bit disillusioned by the threads here a couple of months ago  . I have been away for nearly two months but decided it would be a good idea to check in once in a while and that is what I have done.

I know I am not that important to PJ but you clearly are; so please don’t leave. You are nice gentleman of a poster while I am prickly at the best of times. You are needed here because your calming influence is good for everyone. 8->

Kudrat Ji & Titlee Ji

Hun tuci meinu ik swal da jawab deo.

Could Bollywood have made Richard Attenborough’s “Ghandi”? To the same standard and dealt with the serious subject matter? :dnk:

I think it might have but the fact that it didn’t talks volumes. Secondly, Bollywood has had ample opportunity to deal with similar subject matter and failed miserably, movies about Bhagat Singh are a case in point. Here was a chance for Bollywood to make a realistic and factual movie but it instead made Bhagat Singh an all singing and dancing buffoon (The Legend of Bhagat Singh). X_X

To this I am gonna say that Bollywood is also a business industry they will make what people like, how many of teh offbeat movies are a hit? Not many. Bollywood makes what people like and thats wat it is. So saying ki bollywood is stupid because it is servicing their 75% of their masses (the Indian people) would be wrong. They are in business not in the world of right or wrong.

Ahh, so they are in it for the money? It's a cash cow situation then; okay, I can accept that. But I would have thought they might have given a little more credence to their art form. No?[/color]

Not trying to be headstrong here but why does a person watch a movie ... if "represent India, Indians, their culture or indeed their true way of life" is what one is looking for Bollywood is not the destination. Documentary movies hundiyaan ne those are made on real stuff.

And if this is the question - true representation of the country - I don't think any film industry does that then. Why question is only to Bollywood.

Yes most of the movies are a fantasy (Inception is just a fantasy in a fantasy too but no one will question that).
I think ppl go for 3 hours of fun, entertainment to ESCAPE from the hardships of the life and until a movie does that if its real or not .. doesn't matter.. I pay for the fun and entertainment and I get that. End of story.

If reality is what we want to see, we shud look out the window and know our neighbors problems and try to help them in those 3 hours rather than watching a 3 hours display of somebody else's  problems. Just my thought.

PS - If someone is going to be offended by this - My apologies in advance. Ajj saare meriyaan gallan te naraaz hoyi jaande aa

The problem is that 'Bollywood walle' impose their immoral morality on the rest of the country. They are worshipped by many and they realise that India needs escapism and fantasy because through the screen many can see a dream that they themselves will never realise. It is that fantasy and escapism, Bollywood provides by the bucket load.

It is quite safe to say that it is better keeping the masses in the cinema halls being fed a whole lot of BS than the masses out on the street demonstrating against the gross injustices of the country. For that reason I find Bollywood to be defenceless. I also believe that Bollywood (or should I call it Bollywierd) does not represent India, Indians, their culture or indeed their true way of life. But if it is simple escapism you want Bollywierd is okay, I suppose.

Like i said, i started to read and realised, i was reading an essay.

That is pretty disingenuous of you. You didn't read the post through, so you have no real idea what it saying and the points it is raising but all you can gripe about is the length of it. I bet William Shakespeare would be glad you weren't around in his day eh!  :loll: :dnk:
