Punjabi singer, Dharampreet, known for his sad songs, committed suicide by hanging himself with ceiling fan at his home in Patel Nagar, Bathinda on Sunday late night.

He was reportedly patient of depression. According to his mother Balvir Kaur, Dharampreet was upset due to downfall in his  career over the period of time.

His first audio album was released in 1995 and soon he became a star in rural Punjab.

He is survived by his wife and children, who were not at home when he took the extreme step. Bathinda police  looking into the matter.
