Author Topic: Pakistan Taliban 'kill 100' in assault on Peshawar school (Read 4627 times)

At least 100 people, mostly children, have been killed in a Taliban assault on an army-run school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, officials say.

Five or six militants wearing security uniforms entered the school, officials said. Gunfire and explosions were heard as security forces surrounded the area.

The army says most of the school's 500 students have been evacuated. It is not clear how many are being held hostage.

A Taliban spokesman says the assault is in response to army operations.

Hundreds of Taliban fighters are thought to have died in a recent military offensive in North Waziristan and the nearby Khyber area.

A school worker and a student interviewed by the local Geo TV station said the attackers had entered the Army Public School's auditorium, where a military team was conducting first-aid training for students.

Many of the casualties were reportedly caused by a suicide blast.

The BBC's Aamer Ahmed Khan in Islamabad says Pakistan is accustomed to militant violence - but the latest attack has left the country in shock.

Its all about power and politics.
So sad to hear such news now and than.
People should become more aware about such suspicious activities. Only Government can't prevent such thing from happening. People should take initiative to care about their neighborhood.

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq and other politicians have strongly condemned terrorist attack at a school in Peshawar, Geo News reported.

In their separate messages, PM Nawaz directed civil and military security agencies for coordinated operation to protect all lives. He also directed best medical care for the injured children.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari, while condemning attack, said Pakistani Boko Haram targeted the school children in Peshawar.

He said such attacks could not diminish the resolve of Pakistani nation and armed forces, adding that terrorists would be defeated at all.

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali Khan condemned the attack and urged his party workers to donate blood for the injured.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned the terrorist attack and convened an urgent meeting of the party leaders to discuss the prevailing situation.

He expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah also strongly condemned terrorist attack and expressed his profound grief over the loss of precious lives of youngsters who had to be the future of the country.

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain condemned the attack by Taliban militants, saying "Words are not enough to express our grief and condemn this heinous attack. Our prayers and wishes are with the teachers, children and their families."

"I call upon the authorities to take all necessary action to bring the perpetrators of the abhorrent attack to justice."

suneya eh gaddi te aye, ehna ne diversion create karan layi, apdi gaddi nu aag lagati. Then eh school wall tupaye, kandh tap ke, barbed wires cut karke sidha auditorium or gym wal gaye jithe first aid training mil rahi si bhot jawakan nu. 6 si in total, saarey margaye 7 hrs da operation. Suicide bombers wi si. Most of the damage auditorium ch hoyi jithe high capacity ch students si.

Even though taliban waley ke rahe ki ehna ne only non jawakan nu target kitta, but still pata lag reha bhot shotey jawak wi mar chukkey ne.

Ohdar imran khan da protest chal reha islamabad ch ohne cancell karta so attention peshawar wall jawe. Dekhde a pakistan di government, army an ISI ki karde agley hafteyan, mahineyan ch.
