InDIA Against Corruption!!! Finally! Lets Support it.

Civil society's battle against corruption acquired its sharpest edge ever on Tuesday as veteran social activist Anna Hazare began a fast unto death at the capital's landmark Jantar Mantar demanding greater public role in the Anti-Corruption Bill (Lokpal Bill), which has now been considered and put aside by successive regimes for the last 42 years.

What is Lok Pal Bill??
Lokpal Bill is a measure to conduct an investigation regarding involvements of people with high profiles (Prime Ministers, Chief Justice of India (CJI) and so on). The bill will provide speedy, cheaper form of justice to people.

The Lokpal bill will not wait for any permission from the high commission to begin the inquiry into the alleged irregularities and corruption charges against political leaders, judge's or even the Chief Justice of India (CJI).

In the proposed system, politicians will not have any say in selections of chairperson and members of Lokpal. Loss caused to government will be recovered from accused. The punishment, if found guilty will be 5 years to maximum life term in the proposed system. Right now the punishment is 6 months to maximum 7 years.

Ten things you want to know!!

1. Who is Anna Hazare?
An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War

2. What's so special about him?
He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra

3. So what?
This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.
In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

4. Ok,...?
This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

5. Really, what is he fighting for?
He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

6. How that can be possible?
He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

8. It's an entirely new thing right..?
In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?
The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.
Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?
A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

9. Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?
Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more. Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan is supporting his cause.

10. Ok, got it. What can I do?
At least we can spread the message. How?
Putting status message, links, video, changing profile pics.

At least we can support Anna Hazare and the cause for uprooting corruption from India.
At least we can hope that his Hunger Strike does not go in vain.
At least we can pray for his good health.

Support the cause for it is for your good rather than for anyone else!

True! Je India di corruption muk je ... I mean 50% vi ghat hoje ... India bahut tarakki karega in a very short time. I hope ki aa saare efforts waste na jaan and something good comes out of this!! :rabb: :rabb:

Please give your support to Mr. Anna Hazare....!!!!! Be a part of the great revolution...he is not doing this for himself but for us and our country...!!!! At least we should support this Man...!!!!!!! THANX Mr. Anna Hazare for all your efforts....!!!!!!! Wake up INDIA!!!... Its NOW or NEVER....!!!!!!!!!! Its better to come out in support rather then sitting at home..having your tea and saying....this country will never change... Country will never change if its citizens not change.... After single-handedly provoking a people's revolution, the 72-year-old activist who launched what he calls "India's second freedom struggle," will end his hunger strike any time now.

Mr Hazare said this is a "victory of the people".

It took Anna Hazare almost five days of fasting to accomplish every point of an agenda that seemed preposterously ambitious when the week began. Till India pitched in, expressing its solidarity with rallies around Mr Hazare's cause - to force the government to introduce a new tough law to combat corruption, and to ensure that politicians alone are not entrusted with its conception.

So the government has agreed that a committee will be set up with five representatives of civil society, including Mr Hazare, and five ministers. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chairman; and former Law Minister Shanti Bhushan, who has been picked by Mr Hazare, will be the co-Chairman.

After successfully leading the agitation on Lokpal Bill, Gandhian Anna Hazare on Saturday struck a note of caution, expressing apprehension over parliamentarians' readiness to pass a strong anti-corruption legislation and asked his supporters to be prepared for a "bigger battle".

Addressing the media, the 73-year-old social activist said "power-hungry" politicians will not easily accept any bill having stringent provisions against corruption or "shed" the power they enjoy.
"But on this issue, people will get together," he said adding, MPs and MLAs were being elected to serve the people and not to be their masters.

"But they (elected representatives) have forgotten this."

Hazare, who has set August 15 as the deadline for passage of the bill, said, "I feel there will be need for a bigger agitation in future (to get the bill passed in Parliament)."

"I don't think they (MPs) will easily accede to the passage of the bill as they feel it will cut down their powers."

He said there is no fear among those who indulge in corruption. The proposed Lokpal Bill will act a deterrent for the corrupt and put a "big break" on the menace, Hazare felt.

Agencies like the CBI, the CVC and others are under government control and so they cannot fight corruption effectively, he said adding, when the Lokpal Bill comes into effect, the authority will have autonomy and no one will be able to put a spoke in its functioning.

Replying to a question, he dismissed the possibility of misuse of the proposed law for political purposes.

Admitting that he did not expect the groundswell of support for his campaign witnessed in the last five days, he said people joined him in such large numbers as they were fed up with corruption.

"They have had enough of it."

Asked if he has come out as a "national hero" to the youth like Mahatma Gandhi, Hazare said, "I am not worthy of even sitting at Gandhiji's feet. But he has influenced my thought process."

yeah.. i m getting emails related to this issue too..

Baki , i have heard many celebrities have come forward to support him..

but main thing is corruption is in roots of India.. hun koyee Police wala rok lenda road teh.. oddo kaun hai jo nai like karda ke thode paise deke matter othe hi solve ho jawe.. I would say, everyone does this. Baki challo this is good step but we need to start this Anti corruption revolution from our own home.. nai?
