Sector 17


The heart of Chandigarh’s activities, Sector 17 is the city center. Sector 17 comprises of Inter-State Bus Terminus, Parade Ground, District Courts, several business and shopping centers. Sector 17 is popular for shopping. City Center which is the most popular shopping arcade is here. Dotted with fountains, sculptures, and groves of trees, Sector 17 is pedestrian’s paradise. It was planned around four pedestrian concourses meeting at a central chowk (intersection). You can shop for anything in Sector 17 as there is huge selection of clothes, shoes, electronics, sports goods, books and many more. The 4-storey concrete buildings of Sector 17 houses banks and offices above and showrooms/shops at the ground level with wide pedestrian concourses. The Neelam plaza in the center has fountains with light and water features. Proposal to set up an eleven storey building in Sector 17 is in the offing. Sector 17 has three cinema halls.
