Now just to look back at who were the first one in Punjab

We go back to 3000 BC

First known People are: The Aborigines of Punjab
It is generally accepted that the aborigines lived in caves and on the marshes of river banks. Their language was simple, they lived in small numbers and in isolated communities, and they generally wore animal skin to cover their bodies. Larger groups formed small tribes and became owners of flocks. The aborigines had little knowledge of the properties of metals, and used stones, clubs, and spears as hunting weapons.

Second one is: Indus Valley Civilization (dated 3000 BC)
- it was thought to have been confined to the valley of the river Indus
- it was a highly developed towns, Mohenjodaro and Harappa, represent the high watermark of the settlements
      -  By about 1700 BC, the Harappan culture was on the decline, due to repeated flooding of towns located on the river banks and ecological changes which forced agriculture to yield to the spreading desert

Whao..nice thread..I Like dances..So little bit about that..

Punjabi Folk dances Origin is  still not revealed...Like Theses dances r centuries old..Its histoy can be discovered from RIG VEDA too..where u can read about dances performed by pairs in circle as We do In Gidha.and others.
Even Bhangra is pleaseantry dance but its roots rhave been linked to Lord Shiva, Dravidian Culture..Rest like Sammi is linked to worship of fire..SAMMI means- Tree of Jand..in Ancient time Hindus believed that fire result from rubbing Sammi scared...So In ancient time Fire was worshiped as god And SAMMI was used to perform around Tree Of Jand to make God Happy..this conception can be varified from these lines as

"SAMMI MERE WANAAH DI"

So this is about very ancient times..very traditional origin..Rest there is lot about modern history..I have lot to talk about this..but would like to discuss in my another post..PUNJABI FOLK DANCES
