Jaguar Cars Ltd., better known simply as Jaguar, is a British luxury car manufacturer, headquartered in Coventry, England. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Indian company Tata Motors Ltd. and is operated as part of the Jaguar Land Rover business.[2]

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before evolving into passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II due to the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials.[3] Following a merger with the British Motor Corporation in 1968, subsequently subsumed by Leyland, which itself was later nationalised as British Leyland, Jaguar was listed on the London Stock Exchange and became a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index until it was acquired by Ford in 1989.[4] Jaguar also holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Charles.[5]

Jaguar cars today are designed in Jaguar/Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at Gaydon in Warwickshire, and are manufactured in two of Jaguar/Land Rover's plants; Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham and Halewood Body & Assembly near Liverpool

Interesting topic; I drive a Jaguar XKR Supercharged; it is a 2008 model 4.196 V8 420bhp, black hard top. I bought it in late 2008; it only had 16,000 miles on the clock. It really is a fantastic machine. I also used to own a 1992 Jaguar 5.3 litre V12. It was very nice but knew its own way to the petrol station.

yeah jaguar is indian company now feel prode and drive fast :laugh:

I am glad that Ford no longer own Jaguar; but having said that it did help turn Jaguars's fortunes around. You should also check out what is known as the "Civentry Climax" and you will see the heritage of the Jaguar racing engine.

yeah i know man tata owns it
But its a unique car company they give a luxury as well as power at the same time. Jaguar cars are known for their smooth shifting of gear.
But now a days jags arent that popular for some reason.
I like new XJ and Xkr's they good cars. But ya too much petrol some of the older ones consume plus expensive to maintan

They are still very popular in Europe and the launch of the new XJ will obviously enhance the product range. However, where the popularity is affected is when the exchange rate between the $, GBP£ and the Euro come into play. A heavier GBP and the lighter US$ means less Americans buy Jags and other European cars; it becomes a quesion of economics.

My boss has a jaguar and he recenlty bought a yellow lamb gallardo...They both are quite an eye-candy :happy:

why do you people always have to make girl/guy thing? I've never seen so much sexism, I guess, in this light, it's a good thing I don't hang aroung with many desis - if they all carry this type of attitude.

You need to get behind the wheel of a Supercharged XKS, it'll rip the panties off most American cars. But that's not hard, for every good American car there are three better European cars. :blink: :rockon:

Where do you come off talking about white people? When did I mention them in the picture? Who is the racist now?
