Heart Is Seat Of All Emotions!!!

I noticed today Punjabi Janta is wondering how the heart ever got connected to our emotions  like we use sometimes these phrases ..."from the heart"..."with all my heart"...."broken hearted"
After all...it pumps blood...it doesn't think!


ohhk , So lets have discussion over it..How Heart is coonect to brain n then emotions then in turn theses emotions affect heart functioning then again signal is sent to brain.. and this cycle (feed back mechanism) continues..

Actually  The heart rate increases in response to stress and heightened emotional states.

-> Stress, excitement, anxiety, fear and anger can cause the sympathetic nervous system to release hormones such as adrenaline into the blood stream.|
                                 |
 These hormones cause the "flight or fight" response by triggering increases in the blood pressure, respiration rate and heart rate.

So this is how emotions affect Heart and its functioning..

Next is how Heart affects emotions..

Recent HeartMath studies define a critical link between the heart and brain. The heart is in a constant two-way dialogue with the brain — our emotions change the signals the brain sends to the heart and the heart responds in complex ways. However, we now know that the heart sends more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart.

 This research explains how the heart responds to emotional and mental reactions and why certain emotions stress the body and drain our energy. As we experience feelings like anger, frustration, anxiety and insecurity, our heart rhythm patterns become more erratic. These erratic patterns are sent to the emotional centers in the brain, which it recognizes as negative or stressful feelings. These signals create the actual feelings we experience in the heart area and the body. The erratic heart rhythms also block our ability to think clearly.

Lets see diagrammatically how emotions affect our heart

there is lot more stuff to discuss in this topic.. Like Heart has memory n character too and not only heart , other organs are also affected by emotions and in turn affect emotions too..
I will discuss about that too..

But lets start with

                                   BROKEN HEART SYNDROME( MORE FATAL FOR WOMEN)
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Broken heart syndrome seems to especially affect patients who have recently lost a spouse or other family member.
- It appears to have little to do with coronary artery disease, rather it is typically triggered by acute emotion or physical trauma that releases a surge of adrenaline that overwhelms the heart.
 
-The effect is to freeze much of the left ventricle, the heart’s main pumping chamber, disrupting its ability to contract and effectively pump blood.
-Formally known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy, it mostly afflicts women after menopause, possibly because lower levels of the hormone estrogen make heart cells in some women more vulnerable to an adrenaline rush.
- It can be fatal on occasion, but for the most part patients recover quickly, with no lasting damage to their hearts.

reminded me of one of the episodes of House, where they diagnose a patient with broken heart syndrome and electrocute his brain to suppress the burst of hormones, it was interesting and ridiculous at the same time.

so the cars heart is a engine and Brain is its ECU

when i say my cars heart is broken .. means engine is broke

Good stuff
is this how those lie detectors work...?
like i have seen that they analyze heart rhythm and other vital signs..
and if the person is lying like under sum stress then these are altered..

Yep. u r right.. becoz lie detector , they use different graphs.. and notice changes in vitals ..
Mainly they use, Pneumograph- kind of chest hose- for respiration graph
                Sphygmomanometer - that u know, What it is..
                 GSR- Galvanic Skin Response..
      You can read about these detectors in detail in most of the Normal Psychology Textbooks. :)

Nah, this one was for boys too.. but  as i said more fatal for women becoz kudiyan jyada emotional hundiya ne.. :)
Baki this Cardiomypathy  means. weakening of heart muscles and fer heart chambers nu jyada zor layuna painda, blood pump karan layee and heart da size vadda ho janda.. n leads to less pumping of blood n in turn more complications..
So be careful.. jyada sad nai hona.. :pagel:
