1 ) El Nicho Falls – Cuba

El Nicho is located in Grupo Guamuhaya part of Sierra de Trinidad mountainous is the second highest point in Cuba Pico San Juan 1108 m about 46 km from Cienfuegos. At mountains of the El Nicho you can hike through the caves, water fall bathing and track the mountain’s exotic flora and fauna. Those interested in another kind of wildlife can go bird-watching in a protected sanctuary. The Tocororo lives in this mountain region, Cuban national bird, with beautiful, showy colors.

2 ) Giessbach Waterfalls- Switzerland

The Giessbach Falls lie in the midst of a landscape filled with Swiss postcard clichés — crystal-clear lakes, snow-capped peaks, cable cars, and cuckoo clocks (well, there’s bound to be at least one cuckoo clock in one of the local farmhouses). The name of the locale might ring a bell as it was in the news in the summer of 1999, when some canyoning tourists were killed in a flash flood. The tragedy hasn’t affected tourism in the region, and people continue to flock to Giessbach to indulge in river rafting and paragliding, or to simply soak up the Swiss atmosphere.

3 ) Havasu Falls – United States

The Havasu falls, or more commonly the Havasupai, are a Native American tribe that has called the Grand Canyon its home for at least the past 800 years. Located primarily in an area known as Cataract Canyon, this Yuman speaking population once laid claim to a land reservation the size of Delaware [1]. In 1882, however, the tribe was forced by the federal government to abandon all but 518 acres of their land. The Havasupai witnessed a silver rush and the Santa Fe Railroad in effect destroy what was fertile land.

4 ) Horseshoe Falls, Niagra Falls – New York & Canada

The Horseshoe Falls, also known as the Canadian Falls, is a waterfall on the Niagara River, located mostly on the Canadian side of the border with the United States. It is located between Terrapin Point on Goat Island in New York State, and Table Rock on the Ontario side of the falls. The Horseshoe Falls is considered to be the most impressive of the three falls that make up Niagara Falls. Approximately 90% of the water of the Niagara River flows over Horseshoe Falls, while the other 10% flows over the American Falls.  The falls produce a large amount of mist, which occasionally renders viewing them difficult.

5 ) Iguazu Falls – Brazil

Iguazu Falls is comprised of not one, but an array of 275 separate cascades and waterfalls, spanning a total of 2.5 miles and plunging up to 269 feet into the Iguazu river. Surrounded by bamboo, palm and fern trees, populated by parrots and macaws, and decorated with the ruins of an 18th century Jesuit mission, Iguazu Falls seems suspended from time, making it an ideal location for the filming of the 1986 period movie, The Mission. Taller than Niagara Falls, twice as wide with 275 cascades spread in a horsehoe shape over nearly two miles of the Iguazu River, Iguazú Falls are the result of a volcanic eruption which left yet another large crack in the earth.

6 ) Minas Viejas Waterfalls – Mexico

One of the most beautiful runs here in the Huasteca. The locals said there was a bit of an earthquake and it opened a fissure in the canyon. The river drops 1/3rd its water after the drain. With rain it will be full for another couple weeks.

7 ) Ouzoud falls – North Africa

The world famous Ouzoud Waterfalls (110 m high) are located in the Grand Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt (Province of Azilal, 150 Km north-east of Marrakech).  These are definitely one of the prettiest falls in Morocco and in Northern Africa as a whole. They’re truly stunning at any time of the year, especially during heavy rain.  The falls are the most visited site in this region. The surrounding landscape is made up of idyllic green valleys, mills, orchards and the dramatic gorges of the ‘El Abid’ river or ‘Slaves river’ in Arabic.  You can even go swimming here, at the bottom of the falls. Access is through a shaded path of olive trees. As the sun begins to fade, you can see whole troops of monkeys playing in the twilight – very surreal.

8 ) Ramona Falls – United States

Ramona Falls is a waterfall on the upper Sandy River on the west side of Mount Hood, Oregon, United States.  It is in scenic wilderness along the Pacific Crest Trail at elevation 3,576 feet (1,090 m). The falls are about 120 feet (37 m) tall overall consisting of a wall of cascades.

9 ) Svartifoss – Europe

Svartifoss is a 20m waterfall made famous by the surrounding hanging hexagonal basalt columns. Meaning “black falls”, it’s perhaps the most popular attraction in Skaftafell National Park in Southern Iceland. There’s hardly any time at the falls to have to yourself as people generally come in waves of tour buses. The base of this waterfall is noteworthy for its sharp rocks. New hexagonal column sections break off faster than the falling water wears down the edges.

10 ) Taughannock Falls – New York

Taughannock Falls is located in Ulysses, NY, part of the popular Finger Lakes Region of central New York. The falls is part of Taughannock State Park located between the Village of Trumansburg (part of the Ulysses Township), and the city of Ithaca. The falls cataract has an incredible drop of 215 feet (66 meters), and is one of the highest east of the Rocky Mountains.  Taughannock State Park also features hiking and nature trails, tent and trailer sites, cabins, picnic areas, beach swimming, fishing, playground areas, a marina launching site, ice-skating, sledding, cross-country skiing and an annual summer concert series.

Bonus: Horsetail Fall

Horsetail Fall, located in Yosemite National Park in California, is a seasonal waterfall that flows in the winter and early spring. The fall occurs on the East side of El Capitan.[1] There are a few days every February where this fall is lit up by the setting sun and reflects a bright orange.

This waterfall descends in two streams side by side, the eastern one being the larger, but both quite small. The eastern one drops 470 m (1,540 ft) and the western one 480 m (1,570 ft), the highest fully-airborne waterfall in Yosemite that runs at some point every year. The waters then gather and descend another 150 m (490 ft) on steep slabs, so the total height of these waterfalls is 650 m (2,130 ft). The image shown here is taken during a brief time during the winter, near 21 February at sunset, made famous by Galen Rowell's photograph.

The fall is best seen and photographed from a small clearing close to the picnic area on the north road leading out of Yosemite Valley east of El Capitan. [2]
