I need help with name brands. Paticularly... ATI vs Nvidea, corsair or something else and is a soundcard necessary like a good one...?.

Budget 400 dollars, i'm not a rich guy so give me a guide on what to buy. :)

I'm not much into gaming... but once in a while it would be cool. I'm mostly going to be running some programming apps, photoediting, business type programs (SASS, SPSS), movies, Internet use, uhmmmm and assignments and stuff would be ok... but not on my priority list.

Just the tower part, US or Candian dollars is fine... and got both lieing around here... US dollars would be better

your into intel or AMD?
I personally like AMD than Intel
coz u pay more for Intel but you can get extras if u buy AMD bit cheap and goood for gamin in video editing.. rest u tell me. i can give u the quote and tell u how can assemble one

I can put one together... just wasn't sure about brand names... Intel or AMD... doesn't matter... cheap and should last me for a couple years at least.

thanks for the help man... but how come you chose Nvidea over ATI... AMD owns ATI... I would thing that AMD and ATI work better together?

kerfule it also depends if you want to run Vista on it.. you must have at least 3gb of ram.. to rum smoother.. if you running Xp or Xp 7{coming in july} i think 2 be fine....

Well Yeah ATI is owned by AMD and if you see the reviews the Nvidia is better because AMD didnt spent much on the Graphic soultions whereas Nvidia has been good over past few years. Also ATI made Crossfire in recent years but for that u need Sli port and u need to put two of the graphic cards which will cost u over 300 dollars minimum.. your choice..
AMD is better Ive been using my computer from last 2 years now and still takes 1 minutes and few more seconds to turn on and start working
well This configurations that i told u will work for
Vista , Windows 7 and XP.
You can Run: MAC, Linux/Unix too. no problemo !

So, yesterday i went to get the parts for my computer. It "was" going to be decent. I decide to go with integrated graphics cause im a cheapo... picked up 4gb of ram, cause it seems to be in style right now. Picked up a 250gb hard-drive... again the cheapo gene kicked in. There "was" a few other things in the basket... motherboard and CPU and a keyboard. So I get to the cashier, and start thinking about about which credit card to swipe.

"Then" I decided that I'd be happier with the money. :D So, I put back everything on the shelves :D :hug: koi ni... now i got money for a vacation :D
