Punjabi Help!

(1/1)

Shifty:
Sat Sri Akal, I am in desperate need of some help, I would like to learn Punjabi as soon as possible, however I don't know how to go about it. I know some phrases, basic sayings, colors, some expressions but not enough to even carry a conversation. Are they're some websites I can study from? What is the best way to practice and memorize? Should I take out some books and if so what kind? I want to learn as soon as possible from my home, maybe in the future take some classes aswell. Thanks so much  hug:)

Grenade Singh:
Welcome to PJ.  I will first commend you on your enthusiasm to learn punjabi.  I teach punjabi locally at our gurdwara to small children, so let me ask you some stuff:

You mentioned that you "know" phrases, basic sayings, etc, but can you only speak them or read them also?  I mean, do you know the punjabi alphabet?

Where do you live? You should look for services, usually at Gurudwaras (Sikh temple), in your area.  If you want to learn online, it will be harder.

You can get a head start in alphabets, pronunciations, some words here: http://www.punjabonline.com/servlet/library.language

Thank you.
