I had an ipad returned it. It was kinda useless. It might work well as a book reader though. I always see people
with those kindles.

Amazon's Kindle is the best for reading. The other competitive option is Nook (B&N). The difference between Kindle/Nook and iPad is that Kindle/Nook use e-Ink technology, whereas iPad is using a blacklight LCD. It's a very significant difference. E-Ink feels like you're reading a book, iPad feels like you're reading from a monitor (reading becomes as if staring at a lamp for too long; it will not be pleasant.)

But if you value tons of extra gaming/productivity apps, than just reading, go with an iPad.

That's the speculation, that it'll be trying to compete with iPad 2, it is speculated also that it will run Android. Rumors are rumors. The main question is still e-ink vs LCD. You'd be waiting about 4-5 months for it to come out. In the meantime, give iPad 2 a shot, if you can bear reading on it for long periods of time, you know what to get.

my brother has the older one... and the biggest problem with it is that there is so much other crap you can do on it. The its hard to chose the ibook app.

I'll just see which one reads the pdf file and epub...

Yeah I'm with kp, I had an ipad 2 and it's crap. i'd go with the kindle, my sister has one and she loves it.
