Mistaken Identity !!
« on: September 05, 2011, 09:45:48 PM »
This video is not really what the title depicts about it. But after watching it, I feel that we can look at half a glass of water from two different viewpoints. Its either half empty implying that we can sit here and complaint about the deadly attempts, even life taking ones, on our Sikh brothers due to the mistaken identity, as linked to the culprits of 911 attack, and do nothing about it; or the glass is rather half full, i.e. there are loads of white people around, especially reporters who have taken the responsibilities of clarifying the concept of Sikhism among their race. Personally I have witnessed one reporter in my life, who did some good research on it and tried to spread the word. The loss, though that the Sikh families have had, ever since 911 occurred can not be fulfilled, yet, we have always and we should always stand apart as a unique race, not even in America but other nations of the world. I don't know why it struck me to write all this, probably doesn't even make sense, but a few board signs, commercials, groups that I have been watching lately in my city, because 911 is approaching, I wish, not another white junkie gets high on that day, walks to a gas station and attempts a life taking shoot out at one of our brothers. For the rest, God bless everyone !

good post bro.. u know i feel like sikhs themselves aree responsible for this.. 911 toh pehla there was no awareness ..there were no efforts by the community to tell the world that.sikhs.are different... another reason is that tho theres a big count of sikhs in the US but how many of them do actually follow the bana... je saray de saray.follow karde hunde ta sab nu pata hunda ke sikh kaun hunde a

...
i think thats the reason that sikhs in full bana have been attacked cuz they were just singled out from the.crowd

hmm this reminds me there is a man who did research on Sikhs. He went to Amritsar and lived there, even learnt Punjabi. He shows how we different to everyone else. Let me see if I can find it.

i dont think i got the pt across. them doing the research wont help we need to promote this among ourselves and inspire the youth to follow the bana again... abt couple of months ago i met a.singh in jn indiana .. he actually took 911 in different way and.started following the bana properly he actually took a petition to c ok ngress with 5000 signatures.and got a law passed.which prohibits airport security to ask sikhs to removetheir turban this is ju st an example .. the point is

...
that we have to create a seperate identity ..not blend in

I was talking about something really different here..but that guy did help raise a lot of awareness here in nz..
especially south island. there aren't much Sikhs down here as the North, but people here know more about Sikhs than up North. and are much more appreciative.

I think everyone who has posted here, has a point. See, we all think from a different prospective, and lets generalize it for a moment and see what we can conclude. On the scale, we can divide our religion into two groups, one who follow the religion as per Guru Ji said and the others like me, who are hair cut. Regardless of this fact, people are taking initiatives to spread the awareness. Off the record, I would say that we have seen countless folks, be it black, white, hispanic, italian voluntarily adopting Sikhism. That is what I love about my religion. We do not force people to get converted, unlike Christianity. We set an example everywhere. One single man with a turban on his head, fierceness on his face and pride in his walk, definetly attracts the attention of at least some one in a crowd. I am going so off the topic now but can't help it ! Mamu you are right, if we all stick to one single protocol and follow it, life would be much easier and we ll stand united as the utmost strongest community all around the world. But now and then we hear news about arguments and fights going on amongst our own people, most of which are used as agenda for political uplift. Recently, we had this Sikh police guy take off the turban of another Sikh guy in Punjab. The media did its best in provoking people to go for processions. There you go, a deep split. Atleast here in the countries abroad, Sikhs who follow the religion follow it from the depth of their heart and they do try their best to pass on the values to offsprings. We crave for and respect stuff when we do not have it in abundant, that justifies it. Anyways, I really really hope that even myself, some day will realize what I am talking about and follow the path Guru Ji set for all of us.

preet bro good post.. but u have to understand that Maharaja Ranjit Singh .. Hari Singh Nalwa .. Sardar Bhagel Singh warge taahi paida honge je aa sikhi kaim rahugi.. for that the youth needs to come back to sikhi.. our leaders have failed to do the jobs .. par kad tak assi blame apne leader te paavange.. current times arent as bad as what it used to be jado mughal hakumat si.. even then jede singh san were living in full bana and were in chardikala... baaki aa 911 toh baad discrimination and hate crime ta chotte mote jhatke aa.

I agree Mamu! I mean during those times, no one would have even thought about deviating from the Path. I wonder how it all started, there must have been a few guys who cut their hair and as they say, it became a fashion trend.
We cannot at all expect the older generation to take this initiative. The politicians use it as an agenda all  the time. Gurdwaras Raaghis and Bai Saab are such hypocrites, I have seen so many cases where they even go to an extent of hitting on a girl inside the Gurdwara or would be drunk while doing Seva. If the youth does not want to take this step, no wonder, asi kehre muh naal apne nyaneyaan nu Sikhi de raah  te pawangey. It would get worsened. I remember my dad used to say ki hor thode saalaan nu Tusi apne grand children hona nu kandh te laggi foto wakha k keya karna c ki Sikh ah hunde c.
As far as the ongoing stuff with  the 911 thing is concerend, hardly a few people want to know the truth or even deviate from the line and think about it. One president declared that it was Osama and people blindly followed. Then came the conspiracy theory and then the Illuminati. And our race got screwed among all this. Anyways, lets hope for the best. Until I don't become a true Sikh, I should not be saying all this. Its hypocracy on my part to say something and not follow it but Waheguru Ji di jidan razaa hoyee, sanu apni sharan ch le lengey.
History witnesses that revolutions have always been brought by a single individual so lets hope for the best !!
