well, there are chances that you guys might have same forefathers and in that case if you carrying recessive gene for some hereditary disease. then inbreeding could really result in some congenital or genetic diseases among you kids.

But its not for sure, because u might be have background from same village but not related at all. actually pata ki hunda ih surnames mainly pind da naam hunde c.. like koyee chahelan pind toh aa tah chahal ho gaya,, koyee Badal pind toh aa tah Badal last name aa ya fer Bindrakhiya or Maan. If you are already in some serious and pure relationship then take some efforts to save this too.. I agree its not so easy to let it go..

So you should do some background check , that you guys don't have family history of any genetic disease and if you can't do that then go for DNA test. i think Rs 10000-20000 vich ho janda.. and if it shows you are related then i would suggest don't go for it but if its not relted then try to convince parents..

i think its totally wrong to get married to same surname guy... koi reason aa why our parents are against same surname marriages ch... ajj kal de niyaane baahle westernized hoyi jande... yeah hovo westernize but apna culture pull k nahi.. apniya limits ch reh ke :hehe:

I've always heard that you are not suppose to marry someone from the same last name as your own. However, I have seen some people do that and they are perfectly fine and their kids are fine that's because they don't come from same area or origin i guess

it just depends where your ancestors are from...one of my bro's best friend shares same last name as us however we are from totally different areas in punjab...although i still consider him my brother but we are not blood related.

biologically and ethically, there are complications in marrying your cousins and all...like muslims do.....genetic issues.....but these two are not related at all....i mean they come from different backgrounds

and also, let's assume their ancestors were same

DNA doesn't change over time, other than a few somatic mutations here and there which don't effect overall development......the amount of genetic material halves with each generation......

so lets say......their great great great great grandmother was same

so great great great great grandmother = 100
great great great grandmother = 50
great great grandmother= 25
great grandmother= 12.5
grandmother = 6.25
mother= 3.125
her= 1.5625

so there are very few chances of getting any biological defects in your babies :)

I'm not going to bother to comment on the subject as I don't enough to do so.

One thing I've noticed in this topic is all the harsh statements towards the topic starter. She's asking for advise, you don't have to so rude in giving her some help deciding her future. Everyone has their opinions but express it in a manner that isn't going to offend someone. Come-on, let's all grow up, you don't need to be so defensive.

I have been trying to support her from starting to boost her confidence....she is already in very complicated situation.....and we all r making it harder for her by degrading her.....not cool
