Elle,m watching ur recent topics ,suddenly you take a u-turn,i don't know what is the reason behind it,behind ur change ,anyways ,i just want to tell u than by wearing these signs(5 k's)a person can not be a sikh ,it is very hard to be a sikh ,u can see a lot of people wearing these 5 k's ,but it does not mean that they are sikh ,if ur bf wants to wear a turben or want to be with beard,it does not mean that he can be a sikh ,GURU GOBIND SINGH JI said that "mainu sikh peyara nhi ,sikh to pehla rehat peyari" means rehat maryaada is most importent in sikhi,REHT MAREYAADA means some rules of sikhi ,like,never tell a lie,do not hurt anyone not a person or animal,never take drugs,live a truthful life,never be related with the people who eat tabbacoo,nd who r kiling girls,
these are some of the rules to be a sikh ,
sikhism does not based only on some signs,
these 5-k's are must for an AMRITDHAARI SIKH
and they have to wear these k's all the time .

Most punjabi people will not become Amritdhari Sikhs. In fact, more and more are likely to not follow the Sikh tradition. It is a trend in our community to be more westernized. There will of course always be people that follow the tradition. I'd commend your bf for even thinking about it, because in today's world, people brush off even the thought of changing to be more traditional.

Of course, it is a personal choice with everyone.
