If you just ask me about demotion: I would demote you...... but the issue is you are attached to site for long- So you care about it a lot -  and its will be very hard (next to impossible) to find someone who is "more" attached or at least "equally" attached - So you can say none has choice.

Problem I have & I would talk only in last 2-4 months
 
- Rahul walked off - Racism. Admin response - other users have valid points so shouldn't be banned.
 
- Site Changed; admin didn't find it important to updating the user about changes - People get shocked and then start to get used to it eventually. Shock could have been stopped.

- People using Shoutbox too much - Admin change the position of shoutbox without asking anyone; so that shoutbox is used less. - No explanation is ever given and people get use to it - fire will add up

- Marjana Gill issue - With two staff members walking on you.

- Rules are made - No one ask a user or communicate the user or the team - So everyone is lost. - In fact the topic is locked so that user on whom the rule will be IMPOSED can't comment in it. Rules include - double post automation, simley post deleted by you recently & making only simley as no Post, topic locked under spam etc etc.. - Did you confirm with the PJ Staff atleast .. challo users nu teh daffa karoo.

- When someone make a discussion - Admin gives an answer -"Jo rabb nu majoor" even when most of the decision is his?

& number of complaints have increased - I shouldn't even go there.

You are in a technology business where communication is the number 1 proirity - As that all you do on a Site - Even you got mad too that Yamla didn't talked to you about Marjana. What you expect from there if you don't communicate? - People felt left out and treated like kids. - Think what would be different if you would have communicated properly.. So you & PJ Staff need to communicate before they do anything dramatic.

Just make a post - we will be changing the site... We will not allow simley post etc etc.. How hard is that?
- Since I Mentioned that you should respond to complaint same day in the post by Karam singh-Which I believe you have started quite well -  Didn't you see that complaints are solved faster - all magic of communicating.

- General:
It's very easy to raise a finger and think about alternate pasts. Rahul's example: I respect freedom of speech to the level that I don't want to compromise on it. Rahul felt that there was racism against Hindus and even after explaining to him, he left. Should I have gone about and banned the members once I found that Rahul was leaving. In my thinking, this is appeasing to the demands of one person at the expense of what I believed was the right action. Of course, everybody has their own opinion.


- Complaints response:
Most of the members expect me ("GS") to make the right decision, rather than have sub admins decide them. I often tell sub admins to try to resolve complaints, because I simply don't have that much time. But what happens is the complaint-makers keep asking that "GS" respond, and nobody else say anything. So in the end I usually just have to repeat what the sub admins have been saying all along just to close the complaint.


- Site wide changes without asking:
Sometimes people don't see the bigger picture. If I had asked for approval about the shoutbox issue, I doubt we'd ever had made the tough decision of making Punjabi Facebook the center of attention. So, I have to make the touch choices (same thing with the theme). Nobody likes change, people want to use the same thing as long as they can, but I have to look at the bigger picture and see what benefits we can get from an alternate way of doing things.


- Marjana Gill/Yamla:
I was calm about Yamla/Marjana Gill issue. All I did is reverse the actions that were taken without staff's consent (actually I one-upped it, and promoted the person to local mod). But everybody was emotional (as is human nature), so things are not seen without bias. But it is well established that all promotions/demotions have to go through the staff, except in dire emergency.




Other criticism is valid. I don't communicate because it takes too much time to get everybody on the same page. It's easier for me to implement something and let people figure it out. Seeing as how my schedule works, I doubt I will have the time to the proper communication that needs to happen at each decision. Like I always say, if any staff member wants to lend a helping hand, they're always welcome to.

Rahul - Opinion is alright but calling Hindu or people following Hinduism, a dog, is Racism. Example - Calling Negro to a back guy is banned as it means Black dog.


Complaint - Well someone(admins) have been giving the message wrong. First the message was given wrong; that all decision are taken by admin then you expect the sub admin decision to be taken as final - Good luck. Why don't you make an announcement that sub admin decisions will be final.- if you have trust in your team. How hard is that? 

Why facebook need to be the center of attention - cause you code it and you think so, that it should be the center? What about normal user thinking? - Its the user love, towards the site, that they get use to things and start getting adapting - Not technology, so you should thankful



Why you as a leader you have hard time controlling your staff member (considering you work close with them) emotions? - What you lacking? - I donno what is - your communication or people start to feel thet left out or people you select are a bit softer etc etc ... As Leader has a very huge impact ... Just saying.. Not judging anyone.


Anyways i m done.. this would go for ever.. back n forth... n wont help as anyone as one or two replies can't change thinking. - So I don't expect a lot right here.. better communication would do.

Punjabi Facebook - I think you're missing how well it is being currently used, as compared to what the shoutbox offered. I'm missing one step, which I will integrate to showcase it's flexibility. A shoutbox is essentially a chat. I'm not egotistical about my code, I acknowledge that my code is inferior, because I haven't put enough effort in it.


Control Staff emotions - I'm not going to control anyone's emotions. What am I lacking? I don't know exactly what I'm lacking, but you have told me in many ways what I'm lacking. (leadership skills, communication skills, etc)
