hey frnds dont u think chat history should be locked and only admins should hav access to it rather than ever one

Its not that bro, people on this website with access to the control panel look up private convo's. Which i think is uncool, only site owners should have that access. The other thing is alright on the forum, the only reason i stopped coming here, is because of that.

ok I've changed the code so that private messages will not appear to anyone (not even site owners). Now there should be no problem.

I agree there are a lot of drama queens here, and you need some kind of control. But those same people just sit there reading chat logs.

Like the main chat is fair game I think, because it was in public in the first place... but there are people that think the private message option is "really" private. If someone is annoying you with private messages, there is an ignore option, so i don't see the need for them to be logged.

well i thinkk itss necessary to have a safe eye on members thru so that the chat could be moderated as itss already been observed that most of the people here are not here to chat and alsoo if people need privacy they can better exchange all private n confidential info over email ids or personal meseges or messeges and acc to u kerfulee.. people like to sit and watch chat logs here ..i dont agree n apart from a few ppl i dont see any one sitting idle here to sit back and relax and read that stuff.. soo itss better to have save chat logs as far as i think soo... well decission depends on admin n hopee it would go on regulted

Kerfufle I think you misunderstood me. I meant the chatlogs on forums (not private messages) are needed because they stop people from abusing the main chat when no moderator/admin is in chat, so we can quickly check the chatlogs on forum and show everybody what they did. Fer dudh da dudh te pani da pani, koi eh ni keh sakda ke mein eh keha ni....

I think private messages are very private and should not be shown to anyone (not moderators, not admins). If people abuse each other through private messages, then they can report on Forum/Complaints section and we will take care of it. Thats what this section is for.

Sukh you give too many people the benefit of the doubt :P

But case is done, the public messages were in public to begin with (i don't have a problem with them being on record) and the private ones were the ones that i had an issue with and they are blocked now.

I understand where your coming from Grenade, about banning people. But I think, if your going to have the records posted then they should be posted for everyone (even private, before). Now that the private messages are blocked its not an issue anymore, the control panel only displays public messages. (Which is acceptable, since everyone has access to public chat already on the forum).

Anyhow, i'm not going to argue about this anymore because we all seem to agree.

yeaaa thats what i said ... in my earlier statement ,, people can chat all private stuff in private mesege or in mails .. however i seriuosly dont think that there is any breach of privacy by maintaining chat logs
